“ Lunch at a sushi restaurant in the Okushiri district And dinner at a sushi restaurant in the Aonae district. Sushi feast! Enjoy Okushiri! Started with draft beer and a highball. Okushiri Island octopus sashimi. Sweet, soft, and easy to eat. It was the first time I'd ever tasted raw octopus. Grilled dancing abalone. Surprised by the incredible price, I couldn't resist ordering it. Watching it dance right in front of me, while it was still half-cooked, I had it sliced and took a bite. Delicious!! Semi-cooked abalone is the best. It's so fresh, the liver has no odor and is delicious. It goes really well with alcohol. Sea urchin parfait! It's so cute! The sea urchin parfait isn't just cute. And it's packed with sea urchin for this price? Sweet, sweet sea urchin, absolutely satisfying. Premium sushi. What beautiful sushi! Everything is fresh, fatty, and delicious. The toppings were big, so perhaps the rice could have been a little bigger for a better balance. They also had some rare whale bacon. The wild garlic rolls were also great as a snack with alcohol. And the grilled miso cheese was so delicious, I was like, "What is this?" They even grilled some for us to take home. When I got back to my room and paired it with wine, my cheeks dropped! The chef was very friendly, and he would occasionally join in the conversation. It was a fun and delicious time, and I got to hear about Okushiri. The counter is definitely the best. ”

“ A sushi restaurant on Okushiri Island, Hokkaido. From Okushiri Airport on Okushiri Island, Hokkaido, head toward the Aonae district, about 1,500 meters, then head toward the Aonaesaki Lighthouse, turn right about 250 meters, and the restaurant is about 60 meters down the left. Please note that the restaurant is open irregularly for lunch, especially during holidays. It's also recommended to make a reservation for dinner. Hours may vary depending on the amount of food delivered. If you can't reserve a table, we recommend ordering delivery. The chef is very friendly and welcoming. This time, I ordered a sashimi platter, salted squid, ham cutlet, boiled greens, eight pieces of local fish nigiri, beer, Okushiri wine rosé, Merlot, and Okushiri local sake. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. The nori rolls I bought as a souvenir were also delicious. This is a restaurant I'd like to visit again. Seating: Counter, tables, and approximately 20 tatami-mat seats. Payment: Credit cards (not accepted), electronic money (not accepted), and QR codes (not accepted). Reservations accepted (recommended). Smoking allowed (probably). Wi-Fi: No. Hours: 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM (irregular holidays). Location: Approximately 5 minutes by car (approximately 1.8 km) or 24 minutes on foot (approximately 1,800 m) from Okushiri Airport. “ I think it's the best in the Okushiri-Aonae area! The menu is extensive, and the prices are more reasonable than in Sapporo or Hakodate, so you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind. However, credit cards are not accepted. ”

“ I came here on the recommendation of the man at Hemmi Shoten. It's a sushi restaurant where you can enjoy local seafood. The talkative chef and I had a great time talking about travels and Okushiri Island, and ended up staying late. Of course, the sushi was delicious, and the meal was well worth the price. In addition to sushi, they also serve meat, which looked delicious. It's a restaurant I'd like to visit again. ”

“ I chose this restaurant because there were no other restaurants open in the Aonae area during the winter, but everything from the sushi to the conversation with the chef was excellent. They also gave me a complimentary roll, so I was very satisfied. ”

“ This was my first time sightseeing. Every inn and izakaya I'd tried was fully booked, so I finally found Aobasou. The only restaurant in the area was Hokkai Sushi, so I went there hoping for a spot. My husband, mother, and daughter all ate as much as we wanted, and it was fantastic value for money! While the price may not seem cheap, the freshness of the fish and the way it was prepared were incredible! (Sorry for the condescending attitude.) Also, when I mentioned that the winery was temporarily closed and that I was leaving on an early ferry the next day, they gave me two types of red wine from the restaurant, as well as plum and kanpyo rolls, free of charge. They even gave my daughter some sweets... I was so touched by their thoughtfulness (´;ω;`) I want to come back to Okushiri, and I definitely want to return when I do! Thank you so much for the wonderful memories. Please be sure to visit!!! ”

“ A sushi restaurant on Okushiri Island. In addition to sushi, you can also enjoy fresh Okushiri seafood, local sake and wine from Okushiri Island. The Okushiri octopus has an excellent texture and the sea urchin is also excellent. The salted sea squirt, ham cutlet, and sushi platter were also very delicious. The chef was a great person and we had a great time. ”

“ I'm traveling around Japan in a campervan. Wednesday, July 10, 2024. I stopped by on Okushiri Island. I had looked up their limited-time lunch set online beforehand, so I rushed in after the ferry arrived. I arrived around 12:30 and managed to get in. First, inside the restaurant. Entering through the beautiful noren curtain, I was warmly greeted by the chef. There was counter seating to the right as you enter. There was a tatami room to the left, which could easily accommodate 15-20 people. The restaurant was very clean, and I'm sure it gets busy with locals in the evenings. The weekday-only lunch menu included Grilled Ezo abalone, eight pieces of sushi, grilled sea urchin, a small sea urchin bowl, salted sea squirt, mekabu seaweed, wild garlic pickled in soy sauce, a bowl of soup, and the sashimi of the day (probably local squid). Everything, including the small side dishes, was delicious, and the overall portions and flavors were impeccable. I wasn't particularly excited about the grilled abalone, but the size and thickness of the dish exceeded my expectations in a good way. At the end, we were given complimentary sea urchin salted and sushi rolls and sea urchin sushi dressed in locally harvested seaweed, which left me extremely satisfied. The chef told me that there is a flight from Hakodate/Chitose Airport to Rishiri Island, so I promised myself to have it with some drinks in the evening next time before leaving the restaurant. If you're ever on Okushiri Island, this is a restaurant you should definitely stop by! ”
